Wimbledon minicabs, over the heath

From Putney, the drive to Wimbledon climbs Putney Hill, crosses the heath at Tibbet's Corner and runs down Parkside beside Wimbledon Common into the Village. The town centre sits at the bottom of the hill around Wimbledon station and the Broadway, home to the Centre Court shopping centre and the New Wimbledon Theatre.

One station, four networks

Wimbledon station is one of south London's main interchanges, with South Western Railway, Thameslink, the District line and Tramlink all stopping there. That makes it a common meeting point: we can collect you outside the station after a train, or take you there for an onward connection.

The Championships and big days out

Every summer the tennis brings huge crowds to the All England Club on Church Road, and roads across Wimbledon and Southfields get busy. AFC Wimbledon's ground at Plough Lane draws crowds on match days too. Book early for these dates and we'll suggest a pickup point that avoids the closures. Groups can travel together in a 7 seater taxi.

Wimbledon to the airports

Wimbledon is well placed for Gatwick, around 45 to 55 minutes south. Heathrow takes about 35 to 45 minutes via the A3 and the routes west. Neighbouring areas include Earlsfield and Roehampton.

Wimbledon Village and the Common

Up the hill from the station, Wimbledon Village has boutiques, restaurants and pubs, and the Common beyond it stretches for over a mile. Wimbledon Windmill and Cannizaro Park are favourites for weekend walks. We pick up from the Village high street, the windmill car park and the roads around the Common.

From Wimbledon into central London

Fast trains from Wimbledon reach Waterloo in under 20 minutes, which is hard to beat for a commute. For anything with luggage, a late finish or a destination away from the railway, a taxi is simpler. Our Waterloo and Victoria pages explain the drive.

Theatres, shopping and evenings out

Wimbledon's town centre is busy well into the evening. The New Wimbledon Theatre on the Broadway stages touring musicals and plays, the Polka Theatre puts on shows for children, and the Centre Court shopping centre and the restaurants along the Broadway draw crowds at weekends. When a show finishes, hundreds of people head for the station at once, so a pre-booked car with an agreed pickup point is the calm way home. Give us the venue and roughly when you'll come out, and call us if it runs late.

Hospitals near Wimbledon

Parkside Hospital sits beside Wimbledon Common, and St George's Hospital in Tooting is a short drive east. We take patients to appointments at both and bring them home afterwards. Both hospitals have drop-off points near their main entrances, and the driver will use whichever is closest to your department. Book the return when you book the outward journey, and tell us if you need help getting from the car to the door.
