Hammersmith cabs via Putney Bridge

Hammersmith is just north of the river from Putney, and with Hammersmith Bridge closed to cars in recent years, the drive runs over Putney Bridge and up Fulham Palace Road. We pick up around the Broadway and its bus station, along King Street, by Ravenscourt Park and on the riverside near the Lower Mall.

Shows at the Apollo and the Lyric

The Eventim Apollo and the Lyric Hammersmith both finish late, and the Broadway is crowded when the doors open. Book the journey home in advance and agree a pickup point a short walk from the venue, so you're not competing with the crowd for a car. Riverside Studios hosts screenings and shows too.

The quickest airport run around

Hammersmith sits on the A4, which runs straight onto the M4 at Chiswick. That makes Heathrow one of the easiest airport runs in London, typically 25 to 35 minutes. For Luton, the route heads north to the North Circular and the M1.

Into central London

From the Broadway, Kensington and the West End are straight ahead. Our Putney to Paddington page covers trains to the west, and the same driver can collect from Hammersmith on the way. Nearby: Fulham and Barnes.

Business travel from Hammersmith

Hammersmith is home to plenty of offices and large hotels close to the Broadway, which makes it a busy spot for business travel. Corporate accounts let companies book journeys for staff and visitors and pay on invoice, and an executive car is available for client pickups. Heathrow is close enough for same-day trips.

The riverside and Chiswick

The Upper and Lower Mall along the Thames have some of London's best riverside pubs, and Furnivall Gardens is a popular spot on Boat Race day. Chiswick and its high road are just to the west. We cover Brook Green and the Shepherd's Bush side of Hammersmith too.

Finding your car at Hammersmith Broadway

Hammersmith Broadway is a busy gyratory, with the bus station and shopping centre in the middle and traffic flowing round it on all sides. That makes it a poor place to stop a car, so we usually suggest pickups on a side street just off it, such as Hammersmith Grove or near Lyric Square on King Street. Tell us where you'll be and the driver will confirm the exact spot. For journeys from the Apollo, the Riverside Studios or the offices around the Broadway, a short walk to a quieter street makes for a much quicker getaway.

Charing Cross Hospital

Despite its name, Charing Cross Hospital is in Hammersmith, on Fulham Palace Road, the same road we use to drive up from Putney. We regularly take patients and visitors there for appointments and visiting hours. Tell us the department or entrance, and book your journey home at the same time.
