How a regular school run works
Tell us the days, the pickup address, the school and the times you need, and we set up a regular pattern. Most families book a morning drop-off, an afternoon collection or both, Monday to Friday. If an after-school club runs late on Wednesdays or there's a dentist appointment on Thursday, we simply adjust that day.
You agree the fare once for the regular journey, so there's no daily haggling or surprise prices. When something changes, such as a new address after a house move, we'll agree a new fare before it applies.
School traffic around Putney
Anyone who drives in SW15 at 8.15am knows the problem. Putney Hill and the Upper Richmond Road slow to a crawl, the queue for Putney Bridge backs up past the High Street, and the side roads near Putney Heath fill with parents looking for somewhere to stop. A booked school taxi leaves at a set time that allows for that traffic, and your child is dropped as close to the gate as the school allows.
We cover schools in Putney and nearby areas, including Southfields, Wandsworth, Roehampton and across the river in Fulham.
Keeping children safe on the way to school
Every journey is carried out by a private hire operator licensed by Transport for London, and every London private hire driver must pass an enhanced DBS check before TfL will license them. On top of that, a few simple steps help:
- give us a mobile number for the parent or carer on each journey
- tell us who is allowed to meet your child at school and at home
- let us know about any medical needs the driver should be aware of
- book booster seats for younger children so they travel safely every day
School taxis for siblings and car shares
Three children from two families can share one car, and a larger group can travel in a 7 seater taxi. Shared runs cut the cost per family and mean fewer cars outside the school gate. Tell us every pickup address and the order you'd like, and we'll plan the route so nobody is collected too early.
Booking a school run taxi
Call 020 3603 5257, send a WhatsApp message or email us with the school, the addresses, the days and times, and the ages of the children travelling. Schools and nurseries can also contact us about one-off journeys, such as transport to a sports fixture or a swimming lesson. For general questions about fares and payment, see our FAQ page.
One-off school journeys
Not every school trip is a daily run. Parents book us for exam mornings when nothing can be left to chance, for after-school clubs on the far side of the borough, and for the start and end of term at boarding school, when a trunk, a bike and a tuck box all need to fit in the car. For those journeys, tell us about the luggage and we'll send a vehicle big enough to take it.
If your child is travelling to an airport for a school trip abroad, our Putney to Heathrow taxi can drop the whole family at the terminal with time to meet the group.
School run questions
Can my child travel alone in a school run taxi?
That depends on your child's age and what you're comfortable with. When you book, tell us whether an adult will ride along and who will hand over and collect your child at each end, so the arrangements are clear before the first journey.
Do you provide booster seats for the school run?
Yes. Baby seats and booster seats are available on request. Give us each child's age and we'll make sure the right seats are fitted for every journey.
What happens in the school holidays and on inset days?
Send us your term dates and any inset days at the start of term. Journeys are only booked for the days your children are actually in school, and you can add one-off runs whenever you need them.
Can two families share one school run?
Yes. One car or a 6 seater taxi can collect from more than one address. The fare covers the whole route, and how you split it between families is up to you.
Is the fare the same every day?
For a regular run with the same pickup, school and times, yes: the fare is agreed up front and stays the same. It's only reviewed if the route changes, for example a new address or an extra stop.
Can you take my child to boarding school at the start of term?
Yes. Tell us about the luggage, such as trunks, bikes or instruments, and we'll send a vehicle with room for everything.
