East Sheen cabs on the road west
East Sheen sits on the Upper Richmond Road West, the same road that runs through Putney, so it's a straightforward drive from our base. We pick up along the high street, in the avenues between the high street and Richmond Park, and around Palewell Common and East Sheen Common.
Heathrow on the doorstep
East Sheen is on the natural route to Heathrow. From here a Heathrow taxi crosses Chiswick Bridge and joins the M4, and the drive typically takes 25 to 35 minutes. That makes early flights much less painful. Coming home, we track your flight and meet you in arrivals.
The Sheen Lane level crossing
Locals know the barriers at the Sheen Lane level crossing by Mortlake station can stay down for long spells at busy times, holding up traffic heading north. When you book a time-critical pickup, such as a flight or a train, it's worth leaving a few extra minutes for it.
Richmond Park and beyond
Sheen Gate leads straight into Richmond Park, and we're happy to collect from the gate after a walk or a ride. For trains, Mortlake station has services to Waterloo, but for longer journeys a taxi to Paddington or Victoria saves changes. Close by: Barnes and Roehampton.
Richmond and Kew nearby
East Sheen is a few minutes from Richmond town centre, Richmond Theatre and the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew. We take visitors to Kew's gates for a day among the glasshouses, and residents into Richmond for dinner or a show. Booking the return when you book the outward trip means no hunting for a car when everyone leaves at once.
The high street
Upper Richmond Road West is lined with independent shops, cafés and restaurants, and parking on the high street can be tight. A cab drops you right outside, and the driver can collect you from the same spot when you're finished.
Mortlake and the river
North of the railway, Mortlake runs down to the Thames, close to where the Boat Race finishes near Chiswick Bridge. The old brewery site by the river is being redeveloped, and the riverside path is a favourite for walks towards Barnes or Kew. On race day, roads near the river get busy, so book early if you need a car. The rest of the year, Mortlake is a quiet place to collect from, and the A205 takes you back through East Sheen to Putney in a few minutes, or west over Chiswick Bridge for the M4 and Heathrow.
Parks for every age
Palewell Park has a playground, tennis courts and a café, Palewell Common has sports pitches, and East Sheen Common runs up to the edge of Richmond Park. With so much green space, it's an easy area for family days out, and we can drop you at one park and collect you from another.
